18 February 2011 - Rotterdam Port Authority and Friends of the Earth Netherlands agree on less harmful substances
A discount on port dues for clean vessels, energy efficient container terminals and technical improvements to ships of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Next to traffic control for ships in the approach area in the North Sea and in the port, to prevent unnecessary waiting before a ship can use the quay and to reduce the amount of fuel used. These are some of the measures in the agreement of 18 February 2011 between Friends of the Earth Netherlands and the Port Authority. The ultimate goal is to reduce emissions of harmful substances in the port with 10 percent by 2020, compared to the initial plans for the new port. IMSA Amsterdam assists the Port Authority and Friends of the Earth Netherlands in carrying out the activities needed to realise the package of measures.

10 February 2010 - Open letter by Netherlands scientists on IPCC and errors in Climate Change 2007 report
Errors in the IPCC climate change report are being seized by some to discredit climate science. In the Netherlands parliament climate scientists have recently been depicted as 'swindlers' and 'climate mafia'. Such allegations are not supported by the facts and are unwarranted. The fact that IPCC is not infallible does not make its key findings untrue or biased. Still, IPCC should become more generous in acknowledging errors rapidly and openly.

06 February 2010 - Edgar Doncker Award 2010: 150,000 euro for sustainable fish
The Edgar Doncker Award 2010 has been awarded to Christien Absil and Esther Luiten for their efforts to promote the development and introduction of the VISwijzer, the Dutch Fish Guide. They got rewarded for their contribution to protecting nature in the North Sea. The jury praises their unflagging and constructive approach, as well as their attention to man, society and the economy. The mayor of the city of Haarlem, Bernt Schneiders, will present the award on March 16 in the city hall of Haarlem.

27 October 2009 - The Amsterdam Declaration
The Club of Rome calls for urgent action to avert the growing risk of catastrophic climate change. The most recent scientific data presented to the Assembly of the Club of Rome on 26 & 27 October by the world’s top climate scientists demonstrate the accelerating impacts of climate change on the natural systems of the planet. Outcome of the Global Assembly is the Amsterdam Declaration. It was presented to Mr. Job Cohen, Mayor of Amsterdam, who will convey this message as a last call to the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen.

26 October 2009 - Global Assembly Club of Rome 2009 in Amsterdam
The Club of Rome will be having its annual meeting in Amsterdam on 24 to 27 October in the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (Harbour Music Hall). On 24 and 25 October the internal annual meeting will be held, on 26 and 27 October a conference. The Club of Rome became world-famous in 1972 for its report ‘Limits to Growth’. The conference of 26 and 27 October is a prelude to the UN Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change in December 2009.

06 April 2009 - Cramer endorses conclusions EDN’s CCS report
New power stations and industrial installations emitting CO2 will have to start using the technology for capturing and storing CO2 as soon as this technique has been tested and when it is ready to be widely applied. This is expected for somewhere between 2016 and 2020. Dutch Environment Minister Jacqueline Cramer stated this on April 6, after she had received the final report on the CCS dialogue commissioned by Energie Dialoog Nederland EDN (Dutch Energy Dialogue). IMSA Amsterdam was actively involved in carrying out the dialogue, in close cooperation with Spin Consult.

15 January 2008 - TNT Post introduces the green stamp
On January 15, 2008, the CEO of Dutch postal service TNT Post, Mr. Peter Bakker, launched the 'green stamp' for corporate customers. With this stamp they can choose to have their mail delivered climate-neutrally within the Netherlands. The green stamp is a step for TNT towards their sustainable ambitions.
