Project: Harlingen someWad different, Investigation into a sustainable harbour development

The city council of Harlingen has a clear vision that states that the plans for capacity expansion of the harbour must be realized in accordance with the requirements for preserving the Wadden Sea and have to fit in with the scale and history of Harlingen. It will take time and care to work out these plans. Ecorys has charted the social-economic situation and favourable development possibilities, and has put the conclusions into a report.
IMSA concluded that development of the Willemshaven for tourism and recreation could be an enormous impulse for the economy and employment. The Nature Conservation Act states that this has to happen before the city can even begin to talk about a seaward harbour expansion.
The IMSA report is available in Dutch only.

IMSA operates on the interface between industries, governments, NGOs, science and the critical outside world to develop together with our clients innovative solutions to sustainable development.
